August 11, 2026 – Ventura County Sheriff’s Office officials report that during July 2026, the Ventura County Fentanyl and Overdose Crimes Units (VC FOCUS), with the assistance of the Moorpark Special Enforcement Unit, concluded a narcotic sales investigation with the arrests of Andy Garcia, Abigail Islas, and Liam Fairlie.  Garcia, Islas, and Fairlie were arrested for operating a drug delivery service that sold marijuana products and psilocybin mushrooms to juveniles in Ventura County.
 
During the months of April and May of 2026, detectives from the VC FOCUS team became aware of a drug delivery service that sold psilocybin mushrooms, and marijuana products to juveniles in Ventura County.
 
During the investigation, detectives determined that Andy Garcia, Abigail Islas, and Liam Fairlie were involved in the illegal sales of marijuana products and psilocybin mushrooms using a variety of social media and messaging platforms.
 
On July 29, 2026, a team consisting of detectives from VC FOCUS and the Moorpark Special Enforcement Unit served a search warrant in the 10300 Block of Hillview Avenue in the area of Los Angeles known as Chatsworth, where Garcia and Islas reside.  Fairlie was not contacted during the search warrant service.  On July 30, 2026, Fairlie was located and arrested by VC FOCUS detectives in the area of Los Angeles known as Pacoima.
 
Approximately 570 gross grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 194 gross grams of concentrated cannabis, over 21,000 gross grams of dry marijuana, 90 counterfeit Xanax pills, and (2) semi-automatic handguns were seized during the search warrant service. An indoor marijuana grow was also located inside of the residence, containing over 500 marijuana plants.  Additionally, over $40,000 in various denominations of U.S. currency was seized due to being determined to be gains from illicit drug sales.
 
Andy Garcia and Abigail Islas were arrested and booked in the Ventura County Jail for the following charges: HS 11361(b)/Furnishing Marijuana to a Minor, HS 11379(a)/Sale of a Controlled Substance, HS 11378/Possession for Sale of a Controlled Substance, HS 11358(c)/Unlawful Planting or Cultivating of Marijuana Plants, HS 11359(b)/Possession of Marijuana for sale, and PC 182(a)(1)/Conspiracy to Commit a Crime. Both Garcia and Islas were released on bail. 
 
Fairlie was arrested and booked at the East Valley Jail for the following charges: HS 11361(b)/Furnishing Marijuana to a Minor and PC 182(a)(1)/Conspiracy to Commit a Crime.  Fairlie was also released on bail.  The case against the three defendants was submitted to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, who elected to file the above listed charges. 
 
VC FOCUS is a task force made up of Ventura County regional law enforcement agencies including the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Simi Valley Police Department, Oxnard Police Department, Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, California Highway Patrol, as well as federal law enforcement partners. The primary mission of this partnership is to combat fentanyl related crimes and opioid overdoses by targeting the supply chain of individuals and criminal organizations responsible for the sales of these drugs into Ventura County. In addition, the task force works to identify new trends of abuse among the younger population and educate the community at large on the lethal danger of this epidemic.
 
VC FOCUS has partnered with Ventura County Behavioral Health as an active member of the County Overdose Awareness & Solutions Team (COAST) in a campaign to reduce overdoses and educate the public about the dangers of opioids and other drugs.
