August 19, 2026 – LAKE FOREST, CA – Orange County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Wednesday, August 19, at 5:42 a.m., deputies responded to the area of El Toro Road and Creekside regarding a traffic collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle.

Deputies arrived and found the motorcyclist, David Matthew Atwood Sr., 55, of Lake Forest, unresponsive. He was transported by the Orange County Fire Authority to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle, Matthew Christian Biedebach, 21, of Lake Forest, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and booked into the Orange County Jail.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is conducting the investigation into this fatal collision.
