Fatal Traffic Collision 

September 5, 2026 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on September 4, 2026, at 5:00 a.m., deputies from the Thermal Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the area of Avenue 54 and Tyer Street regarding a collision involving a motorcycle. Upon arrival, deputies located the rider in the roadway and provided life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. The rider was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where they were later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. The Coachella Community Action Team responded and assumed the investigation. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor; however, the investigation into the cause of the collision remains ongoing. The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
