September 8, 2026 – Lakewood Sheriff's Station officials report that what started as a routine traffic stop for speeding quickly turned into a lot more.

On August 28th, Lakewood deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding. During the stop, the driver decided to toss an open alcoholic container out of the vehicle—because apparently that seemed like a good idea.

The investigation ultimately led to a DUI arrest, and a subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a ghost gun.

One traffic stop. Multiple violations. One less illegal firearm on our streets.
