September 17, 2026 – Chatsworth, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that Valley Traffic Division detectives 
are investigating a fatal traffic collision involving a Los Angeles County Transportation Authority (Metro) bus that left two people dead.
On September 15, 2026, around 5:00 p.m., a gray 2004 Ford Expedition was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes on De Soto Avenue when it ran a red light at Nordhoff Street, nearly striking a vehicle traveling eastbound on Nordhoff Street. The Expedition then collided with a Metro Bus traveling eastbound on Nordhoff Street at De Soto Avenue. The impact fully ejected one passenger from the bus and partially ejected a second. Debris from the collision also damaged a blue 2024 Honda CR-V that was stopped, facing northbound, on De Soto Avenue at Nordhoff Street.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced two adult passengers deceased. Their names have not been released pending next-of-kin notification. One passenger sustained severe injuries. The other passengers transported to local hospitals sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Six individuals were transported to different hospitals for medical treatment.
The driver of the 2004 Ford Expedition was identified as Bailee Lynn Rios, 36, a resident of Simi Valley. Her booking number is 7321676, and she was booked for Penal Code 187(a) murder, with bail set at $4,000,000.
The case will be forwarded to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
