August 31, 2021 -  The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Dixie Fire for Tuesday.

Special Statement: The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning that began yesterday and will last through 11pm today (Tuesday).

Fire: The Dixie Fire is 807,396 acres, an increase of 36,213 acres since yesterday, with 48% Containment. Active to extreme fire behavior is expected on the north and southeastern perimeters of the fire. 

Smoke: Another day of strong southwesterly winds over the region will continue to lift and transport smoke off the northeast. Although significant smoke production is expected again today, the majority of the smoke should be elevated and communities in the forecast zone can expect generally Moderate air quality. The exceptions are in Chester and surrounding areas where heavier smoke will remain trapped in the valleys until the afternoon hours, and smoke from other fires in NW California may drift into the northern end of the forecast zone and impact Burney, limiting their improvement. This trend will continue through tomorrow.
