SST LTRSeptember 25, 2018 - It is my pleasure to know and respect both of the intelligent and community-minded women who are running for the position of MCUSD School Board Member.  Although they run as District 3 candidates, we ALL get to vote for one or the other, because school board members vote on matters affecting the futures of all our children.  My choice honors experience.

Judy Eppler should be re-elected to the Board due to her wide experience.  I worked with Judy for many years—I, as Principal of Mariposa Elementary, and Judy as MCHS Counselor, MMS Principal, district Curriculum Director and finally as a School Board member.  In all roles, Judy was honest and direct, thoughtful in her well-researched opinions, and helpful.  Way back when, she implemented distance learning at MMS, allowing students to take Spanish, Math and Environmental Science.  Students did a live demonstration of this for the first Rural Education Summit at the Tenaya Lodge.  In 2002, she worked with Board Member Bob Bartholomew and Senator Dick Monteith to secure ASB803, the transportation bill, providing the $350,000 per year we still receive.

Judy understands State Ed Code, financing and the history of the school district.  She has built extensive networks from which to pull assistance for our schools.  She has shown, over and over again, by her regular visits to all of our school sites, that she truly knows the needs of sites, teachers, administrators and, above all, students.

It does not matter what district you are in, vote on November 6th for what really matters—EXPERIENCE.  Judy Eppler is the candidate with experience.
