September 28, 2020 - The medical “Golden Hour” is the period following a traumatic injury during which receiving prompt medical treatment is critical to minimizing adverse outcomes or preventing death.

A year ago last May, I had a stroke! Thanks to the immediate call by my wife to 911, and the quick response from fire and ambulance first responders, I was transported to John C. Fremont Emergency. There being expeditiously diagnosed, stabilized and transported by air ambulance to a specialty cardio-vascular hospital in Modesto. All made possible within the “Golden Hour” by having our local John C. Fremont hospital and medical services. 

After treatment in Modesto, I was transferred back to John C. Fremont for recovery and rehab where I received professional and compassionate care from doctors, nurses and staff. Having the hospital in our community and receiving medical treatment in the “Golden Hour” was significant in allowing me a successful recovery from the stroke.

Having a hospital with an E.R. and other services is an important life line for all Mariposa residents in an hour of need. Not only does It offer much needed employment opportunities, but also provides significant infrastructure making Mariposa a more desirable place to live.
