October 20, 2020 - I have known Robert Collins (Bob) for over 20 years. Our children participated in several activities together. I have had the occasion to coach soccer, baseball and participate in 4 H programs with Bob as well as backpacking in the Sierras with him and some of his children. Bob has provided consistent direction to those he coached and taught.
On many occasions when we are together in public there have been several young people that approach Bob and thank him for the guidance they received when he was a teacher in the public school systems and coach for sports programs. Some just want to chat and catch up on what he has been up to and to tell him their story. These are well adjusted people ready to function in today’s world.
I have had occasion to discuss basic policy and direction of the Mariposa County School system with Bob. Bob is needed on the School Board for his knowledge of the Mariposa and Mountain public school as well as home school systems and sound judgement on issues especially with the current challenges.
If you have any curiosity about how Bob and his wife, Connie approach working for a better community, talk to either of them or meet their children (all 7 of them) and discuss most anything and determine for yourself what kind of parents could be responsible for the basic good character of these young people.
