September 19, 2022 - Editor, I endorse Kelly Salonen and Robert Hill for Mariposa County Unified School District Board of Trustees.
As the mother of three adult children, I have been actively involved in the school system for years, and have first hand knowledge of the needs of our children within a school setting. As a family law attorney with specialized training in representing children, I have been Court appointed over the years to represent literally hundreds of children in a two county area. I have worked with countless families and children in custody cases, CPS cases, juvenile delinquency proceedings, guardianships and adoptions. Over the course of my 33 year legal career, I have seen first hand, from a different perspective than most, the daily struggles facing our children. It is with this experience and background that I wholeheartedly endorse Kelly Salonen for School Board, District 3, and Robert Hill for School Board, District 1.
The dedication of Kelly Salonen and Robert Hill to traditional values is a paramount attribute that cannot be overstated. There are state guidelines with which our School District is mandated to comply. However, the District does have some leeway within that framework to make important decisions which forever shape and influence the lives of our children. It is crucial that we have School Board members who are focused upon reversing the steady decline in teaching the basics, rather than expanding the curriculum to essentially replace the role of a parent. Kelly Salonen and Robert Hill will work hard to restore your children’s right to learn and your right to parent.
Remember: All registered voters in Mariposa County are able to vote for one candidate from each School Board District, regardless of where they live. Our children deserve the opportunity to, first and foremost, learn the basics in our schools. Vote for the School Board candidates who will advocate for this. Vote for Kelly Salonen, School Board, District 3, and Robert Hill, School Board, District 1.
