Cathedral Fire at around 6:00 P.M. in Lushmeadows area of Mariposa County

Update: Tuesday Morning: Cathedral Fire Lushmeadows area of Mariposa County is 100% contained and burned a total of 5 acres and 3 structures.

September 4, 2017 -  On Sunday evening, September 3, 2017 the Cathedral Fire was reported on Cathedral Spires in the Lushmeadows area of Mariposa County.

Evacuation orders came in for all of Cathedral Spires Road, all of Sentinel Dome Road and all of El Capitan Road. 

As the fire crews addressed the fire the evacuation orders were being lifted within a couple of hours. First was El Capitan Road, then within four hours all the evacuation orders were lifted.

Three structures were reported involved with two being outbuildings.

As of 1:00 A.M. Monday morning there are several CAL FIRE engines around the fire monitoring the smoldering logs, which were on the ground as a result the Bark Beetle infestation.
