MCFSC 20171120 164220December 11, 2017 - The Mariposa County Fire Safe Council is excited to announce that our contract crews have completed the work at the Greeley Hill Community Center.  Contract Crews removed 93 hazardous trees that threatened the Greeley Hill Community Center, Wildwood Chapel, and the Greeley Hill Volunteer Fire Station. “We are elated to know the trees are no longer a threat to key public infrastructure or community members using the facility, Said Michael Beaudoin Executive director for the Council, “We noticed good recruitment of saplings on the project footprint so we expect some pines to come back on their own eventually.”

The Council is also working on many private properties throughout the Greeley Hill Area and expect to finish the Greeley Hill Tree mortality project by the end of this month. We are unable to accept any more applications for Greeley Hill, but our application pool is still open for Ponderosa Basin, Lush Meadows, Jerseydale, and Midpines. Once the felling and clean-up concludes in Greeley Hill the Council Plans to address tree mortality in Southern Mariposa County.
MCFSC DSC02361Tree Mortality Assistance Program applications can be picked up at the MCFSC office at 5006B 8th Street in Mariposa. Application materials can also be accessed on our website at MariposaCountyFSC.org.  If you are unsure if you qualify for the tree mortality assistance program please feel free to call our office at 209-966-7700 and we would be happy to answer any of your questions regarding the program.
