May 15, 2018 - GERBER, CA — On Friday, May 18, 2018, Kristin Hausman will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.
Hausman will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Gerber Postmaster at a 1:00 p.m. ceremony at the Gerber Post Office, 408 San Benito Ave, Gerber, CA, 96035. Post Office Operations Manager Scott Wayman will administer the official oath of office.
Hausman began her U.S. Postal Service career in 2005 as a clerk in Los Molinos, CA. In 2012, she began her management career supervising letter carriers and clerks in Proberta, CA. She has worked as a Customer Services Supervisor in Redding and Anderson, CA.
“I am extremely proud to be chosen as the new Postmaster for Gerber,” Hausman said. “I firmly believe in Mahatma Gandhi’s quote which says, ‘A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. They are not dependent on us. We are dependent on them. They are not an interruption in our work. They are the purpose of it. They are not an outsider in our business. They are part of it. We are not doing them a favor by serving them. They are doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to do so.’”
Hausman has two children, Kayley, 12 and Mason, 8. She enjoys hunting, fishing, kayaking, travelling and restoration projects. She is a licensed cosmetologist and enjoys volunteering at Red Bluff Relay for Life and at her children’s school and extracurricular activities.
As Gerber Postmaster, Hausman oversees over 1,300 rural and highway contract daily mail deliveries. In addition, Gerber services 211 daily Post Office Box deliveries. Hausman manages six employees. She also oversees the operations of the Proberta Post Office.
