“Over and over again voters have said jobs and the economy are their top priorities. The president said his economic policies were on the ballot, and voters clearly believe we can do better. So now is the time to get to work—so we can get more people back to work,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.
“Despite incremental job gains, we’re still nowhere close to where we need to be in this country. As today’s report underscores, too many Americans are unemployed. Under Democrat policies, millions have become so discouraged they have given up looking for work altogether; we too easily forget about them because they are not represented in the headline unemployment number.
“That’s why Republicans want to get moving on job-creating legislation, including more than 40 jobs bills sitting on Harry Reid’s desk. Voters sent a message to Democrats. They want to get moving, too. They think America can do better, and Republicans agree. It’s my hope that the president will listen and change course. If he does, we can create even more jobs for the people who need them, increase take home pay, and give families more security and stability.”
