How to Set Up a Budget

June 26, 2018 - Creating a budget is for many people a “love/hate” relationship said Edward Azul, branch manager of the Golden 1 Credit Union branch in Oakhurst.

“It’s that way even for me.  However, through my own personal and professional experiences over the years, I have developed some best practices to help people create and stay on a budget,” he added.

On Saturday, July 21, 2018, Azul will share some of those best practices at a free workshop at the Oakhurst Branch Library called “Budgeting 101.” The workshop is scheduled from 10:30 A.M. to 12:00 noon at the library located at 49044 Civic Circle Drive, Oakhurst.

At the workshop, Azul said he will explain the importance of a budget, how to create a budget and, most importantly, how to stay on one. Reference materials for the workshop are provided by Golden 1 Credit Union.

According to Azul, he first learned about credit and lending when he worked as a car salesman in the mid-90s. A few years later, he moved on to home loans and real estate and after the market crashed, he transitioned into retail banking.

“I have been in banking ever since and have worked with both consumer and business clients from checking and savings accounts to residential and commercial loans,” he continued.

Azul and his wife recently moved from Huntington Beach to Clovis where they currently live. The couple moved to the area to care for his wife’s mother after her husband died.

Golden 1 Credit Union, open since 1933, is the second largest credit union in California and the sixth largest in the United States with assets totaling $11.7 billion. It provides banking services to more than 943,000 members.

The free workshop is sponsored by the Friends of the Oakhurst Branch Library and will be held in the library’s Community Room. For more information, call the library at (559) 683-4838 or visit www.oakhurstfobl.com.
