July 21, 2018 - Modesto, CA – On Monday, July 23, 2018, a Celebration of Life for fallen CAL FIRE Firefighter Braden Varney will be taking place at The House Church, located at 1601 Coffee Road, Modesto, beginning at 10:30 A.M. This event is scheduled to have a very large attendance and requires road closures and lane restrictions within the area. The changes of the traffic flow will begin at 6:00 A.M. on Monday morning and continue through 3:00 P.M. Monday afternoon.

The affected traffic areas will be as follow:

  1. Westbound Briggsmore Avenue will be reduced to one lane of traffic between Rose Avenue and Sunrise Avenue.
  2. Southbound Coffee Road will be closed between Floyd Avenue and Briggsmore Avenue.
  3. The turning lanes for westbound Briggsmore Road from Coffee Road will be closed.

Anyone traveling through this area could experience significant delays. It is highly recommended that alternative routes of travel be planned ahead of time to avoid the traffic congestion.

While there will be no changes of traffic flow patterns for eastbound Briggsmore Avenue and northbound Coffee Road, there are expected delays due to the required roadway changes.

As a reminder, the roadway closures will begin at 6:00 A.M. and remain in place until 3:00 P.M.

If you are planning on attending the service, the only entrance to the House church will be from Norwegian Avenue. All other entrances to the facility are not available for entrance to the church. There will be designated parking areas and personnel onsite to assist you.

For outside agencies planning to attend this event, please use the Standiford Avenue exit from Highway 99. Travel east on Standiford Avenue to Coffee Road; turn right. Follow the roadway signs to the event for parking of fire apparatus. All other vehicles will be directed to Norwegian Avenue to access the facility.
