December 16, 2018 - Washington - Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) released the following statement after the Senate passed a resolution to end U.S. involvement in the Yemen civil war:

Dianne Feinstein“As long as the United States continues to back the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, we’ll continue to see horrible bloodshed. It’s past time to end our support for this unending war.

“For more than three years, the United States has provided the aerial refueling, intelligence and weapons necessary to continue a conflict that has directly killed up to 60,000 people.

“Even more horrific is the humanitarian crisis that has unfolded. More than 85,000 children have starved to death and millions more are on the brink of that same fate. This tragedy is the result of the coalition’s targeted attacks on Yemen’s infrastructure and blockade of its ports.

“For too long the United States has turned a blind eye to the coalition’s actions, including the recent bombing of a school bus full of children. Today’s vote is an unmistakable signal that the Senate is paying attention and won’t support continued U.S. involvement.”
