Exhibit Grand OpeningExhibit Grand Opening on Friday, April 5 - Photo by Josh Fengel

April 11, 2019 - An exhibit and speaker series featuring a History of Rock Climbing in Yosemite Valley is in full swing at the Mariposa Museum and History Center.  The exhibit, originally scheduled to run through June, will be open through the Summer.  The exhibit includes artifacts from some of the most iconic first ascents of climbing in Yosemite Valley.

The Mariposa Chamber attended the grand opening and a ribbon cutting ceremony kicked things off, followed by a standing room only presentation by local climber and tourism business owner, Ken Boche.  Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Company sponsored the event, and approximately 80 people were in attendance.

The next speaker will be Glen Denny, well-known for his climbing achievements and as an iconic photographer, on Saturday, May 4 at 6:00 P.M.  Gary Colliver, writer Chris Van Leuven, and other speakers from major first ascents and milestones of Yosemite Valley rock climbing history will be some of the speakers featured in the series.

For more information, contact the Mariposa Museum at (209) 966-2924 or follow the Mariposa Museum and History Center on Facebook to stay updated on event dates and times.  Visit the museum website at: MariposaMuseum.com. The museum is located at 5119 Jessie Street in Mariposa, open daily from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
