Merced College’s Community Services program will offer a Community Theatre Play Production Class in which Lanford Wilson’s award-winning play, The Rimers of Eldritch will be produced under the direction of veteran director Fred Friedland at the Mariposa County Park Amphitheater in Mariposa.
The play has 10 female roles and seven male roles. Auditions will be held starting at 6 p.m. on the first day of class on Tuesday, August 5 at the amphitheater. Rehearsals will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The play will open for performance at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 and will have additional performances on Saturday, Oct. 4, Friday, Oct. 10, and Saturday, Oct. 11; as well as 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Oct. 12.
As a production class, people are needed as actors, technicians, and backstage and front-of-house managers. Having taught and directed for almost forty years, Mr. Friedland has been able to coax top-level performances from actors ranging from beginning to professional – so whatever may be your skill level, if you have the desire to perform or work backstage, please come to the audition!
