February 21, 2020 - On Thursday, February 20, Tyler and Rebecca Shaddix spoke with MCHS students about careers in tech as part of the MCHS Academic Boosters Club's Career Lunch series.
ABC IMG 2383Tyler graduated from MCHS in 2009 and earned a degree in Computer Science and Engineering from UC Merced in 2013. He started his career as a software engineer for Mariposa-based technology company, Netfile, and has since co-founded 3 software companies. He's currently the Chief Product Officer for GoGuardian, which is based in LA and has over 200 employees. GoGuardian is a product used on Chromebooks to determine what students are doing on their computers, curtail inappropriate content, and recover the Chromebooks if they get stolen. The company serves over 8 million students and 3 million educators - including MCUSD schools.

Rebecca was born in LA and is a UCLA graduate and marketing strategist. She helps startup companies create branding and marketing strategies, with a focus on scaling technology companies.
ABC IMG 2381Students appreciated hearing about Tyler and Rebecca's paths to their current positions as well as their plans for the future. There were a lot of great questions and insightful answers.

Thanks to the generosity of an Anonymous Donor, students enjoyed a free lunch from Sweetwater Deli. One student won a $10 gift certificate in ABC's door prize drawing. Watch for information about ABC's next Career Lunch, happening in March.
