May 14, 2022 – After a three-month long investigation, Maximino Mendez (24) was arrested and booked at the Merced County Jail for attempt homicide. Mendez is suspected of shooting a 35-year-MPD Mendezold male on February 8, 2022.

The shooting occurred in the area of Olive Ave. & Meadows Dr.  The victim was located a short distance away and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Gang Officer Justin Saldivar has been investigating this shooting which led to the identification of Mendez as the suspected shooter. Today Gang Officers served a search warrant in the 600 block of Loughborough Drive, at Mendez’s residence. At the residence officers located Mendez & and they recovered a firearm believed to be connected to the shooting.
