March 25, 2024 - SACRAMENTO - The California State Assembly has unanimously passed Assembly Concurrent Resolution 156 declaring March 25, 2024, as Greek Independence Day throughout the state. This resolution, authored by Assemblymember Diane Papan, commemorates the 203rd anniversary of Greece's rebellion against Ottoman rule and celebrates the enduring principles of democracy and freedom shared between Greece and the United States.

Greek Independence Day holds profound significance, not only for the Greek community but also for all Californians. It serves as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage and the remarkable contributions made by Greek Americans to the state's diverse tapestry.
