Are you ready for some football? The Mariposa County Library is! 

October 9, 2024 – Mariposa County Library is hosting a lecture event that's a bit different than their normal offerings. It'll be held at the Mariposa Branch on Wednesday, October 16. It will be from 5:30 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. and is entitled Football Fanatics.

County Librarian Matt Johnson, a former sportswriter, will be examining the Five Greatest Victories and Five Toughest Losses in the history of the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders franchises. His presentation will take listeners through all the highs and lows of rooting for these legendary Northern California teams.

The event will feature some special guests, including former 49er running back Harry Sydney, who will be Zooming in from his town of Green Bay, Wisc.

Also attending virtually will be author Tommy Phillips, who lives in Pittsburgh, Penn. He has written several football books. Phillips is also a member of The Professional Football Researchers Association.
