Road Rage Shooting Suspect Arrested
December 7, 2024 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024, Central Policing District officers responded to the area of Shields Avenue and Pleasant Avenue regarding a shooting victim. Officers arrived and located the two victims, one of whom sustained a graze gunshot wound to her face. The victims were identified to be a 33 female and her father, a 55-year-old male. The female victim was transported to Community Regional Medical Center and her injuries were determined to be non-life threatening. The victim’s vehicle was found to have been hit by gunfire multiple times by the suspect involved.
Detectives learned there was a brief verbal disturbance between the suspect and the victims due to the suspect’s vehicle blocking the roadway and the victim honking at the suspect to move his vehicle.
Detectives assigned to the Street Violence Bureau Night Detective Unit and the Felony Assault Unit began their investigation into this matter. Detectives were able to locate video surveillance from a nearby business which captured the suspect prior to the shooting. Through their investigation, detectives were able to positively identify the suspect in the shooting to be 27-year-old, Julian Angelo Gonzales (pictured below) out of Selma, CA. Julian Gonzales is a convicted felon and is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.
On December 5th, 2024, members of the Night Detective Unit conducted a follow up investigation and located Julian Gonzales and subsequently arrested him for his active warrant related to this case. During an interview with Julian Gonzales, he admitted to his participation in the shooting. Gonzales was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail for multiple felonies, including assault with a firearm and negligent discharge of a firearm.
