Detectives Recover and Identify Buried Body
April 23, 2025 – Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials report homicide detectives have recovered the body a Selma man reported missing on September 13, 2020. He has been identified as Miguel Alonso Garcia. He was last heard from on September 11, 2020. At the time he disappeared, Garcia was 30 years old.
On April 15, 2025, Sheriff’s detectives executed a search warrant on a piece of property located on the 400 block of 6th Avenue Drive in Kingsburg. Locals commonly refer to the property as “The Peach Pit.” Detectives were following up on information that Miguel Garcia’s body might be buried at this location. Members of Fresno County Public Works assisted detectives with heavy equipment to dig up areas of dirt, which eventually unearthed human remains.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office conducted tests on the remains and confirmed them to be that of Miguel Garcia.
Detectives are now working to identify the person(s) responsible for Garcia’s death.
