Homicide Investigation
April 25, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 4:47 p.m., Northeast Policing District officers responded to a location near Cedar Avenue and Shaw Avenue regarding a disturbance involving a son and father. When officers arrived, they found 25-year-old Javoeea Blackman outside the front door of an apartment building on the ground, suffering from a stab wound to the chest.
Officers and EMS personnel provided first aid and transported him to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased at 5:55 p.m. Javoeea’s father, 52-year-old Bryan Blackman, initially told officers Javoeea was outside banging on his front door, causing a disturbance outside. When asked how Javoeea received his injuries, Bryan claimed not to know.
Homicide detectives initiated an investigation into the stabbing. Based on evidence found on scene, Bryan was transported to the Fresno Police Department Headquarters, where he was interviewed. During his interview with detectives, Bryan admitted to stabbing Javoeea during the disturbance. Bryan was later processed and booked into the Fresno County Jail for the charge of PC 187(a) – Murder. Although an arrest has been made in this case, detectives are asking anyone with information to please contact the Fresno Police Department.
