Human Remains Located in Remote Area of Plumas County
May 10, 2025 – Plumas County, CA – Plumas County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on the morning of May 9, 2025, the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) received a report from a private logging company regarding the possible discovery of human remains in a remote area northeast of Cromberg, California.
In response, two PCSO detectives were immediately dispatched to the location to assess the situation. Upon arrival, investigators confirmed that the remains found at the scene were indeed human.
Due to the advanced stage of decomposition and the condition of the remains, positive identification is not currently possible. Further forensic examination, including DNA analysis and other investigative methods, will be required before any confirmation can be made.
The investigation is ongoing, and PCSO will work with forensic experts to gather additional information.
