May 15, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on April 30, 2025, at 12:36 p.m., officers from the Central Policing District responded to the area of Shields Avenue and Pleasant Avenue regarding four gunshots heard in the area. Upon arrival, officers located four spent casings in the roadway. During the investigation, officers learned that the victim and a male subject, who was not allowed at the residence, engaged in a verbal disturbance. The male subject entered the passenger side as he continued to argue with the victim. The unknown driver of the vehicle then lowered his window as he drove away and discharged his firearm multiple times at the victim's vehicle. The vehicle was struck once on the passenger front fender.

Surveillance video of the incident captured the shooting. Felony Assault detectives were able to identify the driver as Jose Flores. On May 7, 2025, MAGEC detectives served a search warrant related to the case and arrested Suspect Flores. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail for two counts of PC 245(a)(2) and one count of PC 246.
