River Rescue – Merced River (Ballico Side) 

May 16, 2025 – Merced County Sheriff's Office officials report that early on Thursday morning, deputies responded to a report of an injured man found near the Merced River by a fisherman.

Deputies quickly arrived, commandeered a small boat, and reached the victim, who had suffered a serious leg injury after reportedly jumping off the Cressy Bridge for fun. The water below the bridge was only waist deep.

Deputies applied a tourniquet at the scene and transported the individual across the river, where paramedics provided medical care. He was later airlifted to a local area hospital.

Excellent work by all  involved for their quick response and teamwork.
