May 16, 2025 – Fresno Police Department officials report that on May 5, 2025, Southwest patrol units responded to a Shot Spotter activation and a call for service regarding multiple gunshot wound victims. Officers arrived on scene and located three female victims who sustained a single gunshot wound each.
Witnesses stated that an all-female fight had been in progress when the shooting occurred. A 17-year-old male approached the fight when Vanessa Noriega (arrested) began screaming at the male juvenile to shoot the girls. The male fired his firearm at the group and three victims were struck by gunfire. The juvenile shooter fled the scene. Witnesses identified Noriega as the person encouraging the suspect to shoot the victims. She was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail for three counts of PC 245(a)(2), and PC 182.
Felony Assault detectives were able to identify the primary shooting suspect as a male juvenile who is on active felony probation for auto-theft, VC 10851.
On Friday, May 9, 2025, officers with the Adult Compliance Team (ACT) arrested the juvenile suspect where he was booked into the Juvenile Justice Center for three counts of PC 245(a)(2).
