Search Underway for Missing Man at Hell Hole Reservoir
May 24, 2025 – Placer County Sheriff’s Office officials report that their Dive Team is searching Hell Hole Reservoir for a man who went underwater and has not been seen since.
On Thursday evening around 7:45 p.m., two men were fishing from kayaks when one of them fell into the water. The second man, the one now missing, entered the water in an attempt to help. Both began swimming toward shore, but the second man went under and never resurfaced.
The man who made it to shore was unable to find anyone to help him call 911 until the following morning, around 8:45 a.m. on Friday.
