September 26, 2025 – Mariposa County Library officials announce upcoming Children's Art Reception on Thursday, October 2nd from 5:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. Featuring tiny paintings and monoprints created by Summer Reading and Day Camp participants.
The Mariposa Library will host the closing reception of "tiny art in a big world," featuring tiny paintings created by our Summer Reading participants. This exhibit also features collaged and individual monoprints created by the Art and Environmental Education Day Camp's campers during library visits this past summer. Together we will celebrate the creative work and collaboration evident in this display. Scroll through to get a glimpse at some of the featured work.
The closing reception will feature light refreshment, an interactive art project, and a chance to view short films produced by the Art + Enviro Day Camp. We hope you can join us! All are welcome.
This summer, the library was pleased to contribute to the Art + Enviro Day Camp's summer programming. This camp, run by Mariposa Arts Council and Sierra Foothill Conservancy, is free to elementary-aged children in Mariposa County. Through grant funding provided by the Arts Council and SFC, the library was able to contribute weekly story hours and printing projects to campers, and to purchase books that reflected the camp's science-based themes, which are now part of the library's permanent collection. Additionally, the library selected books which were featured at the camp's little free library for campers to check out during the summer. These books have also been added to our permanent collection. This was a wonderful opportunity to enrich our library's collection, and to contribute to meaningful programming for our county's youth. We look forward to celebrating this partnership at the closing reception.
