October 25, 2025 - The Sierra National Forest staff is aware of public interest to have access to the Garnet Fire Closure area to continue search efforts.
While this reduced area, as a result of significant hazard trees along many roads, is still not safe for the public at large to enter, we are more than willing to provide access to those focused on continuing the search in an independent capacity.
All that is needed for this is a list of names of those seeking access.
We will have Forest staff at the intersections of McKinley Grove/10S36 and Dinkey Creek/10S24 Road and 10S69/11S02 from 0830-1200 today, 25 October to collect the list of names just for accountability of entering a closure area.
We appreciate the strong interest to continue the search and are glad to assist in any way possible.
Thank you for your cooperation and be safe.

Search Efforts Expand for Missing Hunter - Law Enforcement Personnel from Other Counties are Assisting
October 18, 2025 – Fresno County Sheriff’s Office officials report that deputies and volunteers with our Search and Rescue Unit in the search for a missing Selma man. 65-year-old Ron Dailey never returned from his hunting trip. He left home on the morning of Monday, October 13th and was supposed to be back home that same evening but has not been seen or heard from since. He told family he was going to the Shaver Lake / Courtright Reservoir area of Fresno County. The latest information we have is that when hunting, Ron is known to travel down small roads / dirt paths off of Dinkey Creek Road and McKinley Grove Road. So far, his vehicle has not been found.
Ron is 5’7”, 190 lbs. with brown eyes, brown hair and a beard. He does have underlying medical conditions. He was driving a silver, 4-door, 2002 Dodge Dakota with California license plate 16028S2. Photos of him next to the truck show the clothing he was last wearing.
If you have any information of the whereabouts of Mr. Dailey or his pickup truck, please call the Sheriff’s Office at 559-600-3111. Please avoid posting tips on social media as they may not be seen by the people directly involved in the search. Calling it in is the best thing to do so the tip can be investigated.
