Operation Boo Leads to Four Arrests in Placer County
November 5, 2025 – Placer County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Halloween night, deputies and detectives from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Persons Unit partnered with the Rocklin Police Department and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to conduct “Operation Boo,” a series of compliance checks on registered sex offenders throughout Placer County.
During the operation, our team conducted compliance checks to ensure offenders were adhering to the terms of their release. The team inspected homes and vehicles to verify that each individual was in full compliance with restrictions designed to protect the community, especially on a night when children are out trick-or-treating.
Operation Boo is conducted annually on Halloween between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., the hours when the highest number of children are out in neighborhoods. Under the terms of their supervision, registered sex offenders are prohibited from distributing candy, displaying Halloween decorations, or leaving their porch lights on.
This year’s operation resulted in four arrests in Placer County:
40-year-old John Pavacich
23-year-old Michael Abbott
38-year-old William Gomes
46-year-old Justin Turner
This operation underscores our ongoing commitment to protecting children and ensuring our neighborhoods remain safe.
