March 28, 2026 - The Sierra National Forest (SNF) Road Crew, in coordination with one of our steadfast volunteer groups, has been working hard at tackling downed trees and storm debris in the Miami area.
Road Crews worked alongside the Stewards of the Sierra National Forest (SOTSNF) on Wednesday, March 18 and successfully opened several miles of forest roads, removed dozens of fallen trees and cleared significant debris that had previously blocked access. Highly productive collaboration between our crews and the community made a significant difference in restoring access on public lands.
The work isn't finished yet. SNF Road Crews are continuing operations in the Miami area to ensure primary routes are cleared and accessible.
If you are planning to visit the area, please remember to:
- • Please slow down, watch for crews and expect to see heavy equipment and personnel working near or on roadways.
- • Navigate carefully even on "open" roads. You can still find small debris or narrowing sections. High-clearance vehicles are recommended following storm activity.
- • Mind the weather, check your local forecasts and “Know before you go!”
- • Report obstructions. If you encounter major blockages along primary routes, please note the location and report it to SNF Dispatch at 559-500-4546.
The SNF Road Crew would like to express its sincere thanks to the SOTSNF volunteers who are always willing to roll up their sleeves. Your hard work is greatly appreciated.
