April 2, 2026 –Madera CHP officials report that on March 30, 2026, just before 8:30 p.m., CHP Madera officers responded to a solo-vehicle crash on Daley Road, north of Avenue 17.
A preliminary investigation indicates a 48-year-old man from Madera was driving a 2002 GMC Yukon, northbound on Daley Road, north of Avenue 17. The driver lost control of the GMC, veered off the road and overturned on the lawn of a nearby residence. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the GMC. Despite the quick response from emergency personnel, the driver was pronounced deceased on scene.
Officers learned the GMC had previously been involved in a crash with a 2010 Ford Taurus, at the intersection of Avenue 17 and Daley Road, moments before this crash. The driver of the Ford also fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle but was contacted later that night. He did not sustain any injuries.
This crash is still under investigation. Alcohol and/or drugs are suspected to be a factor.
CHP officers see the consequences of drinking and driving far too often: families shattered, futures lost, and lives that can never be replaced.
Make the right choice:
Plan a sober ride before you go out.
Use a rideshare or designate a sober driver.
Speak up – don’t let family and friends drive impaired.
