April 8, 2026 – Mariposa County Health & Human Services officials issue a reminder for children to get vaccinations for HPV.
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common virus that can cause several cancers in men and women. HPV vaccine is recommended for kids 9–12 years to help protect against these cancers.
For best protection, most kids in this age group will need two shots of HPV vaccine, given 6–12 months apart. Older teens can also get vaccinated against HPV if they missed it when they were younger but may need more shots depending on their age.
Questions about getting vaccinated? Give our Public Health team a call at 1-209-966-3689.
