April 13, 2026 - Sacramento, CA — The California Medical Association (CMA) on Sunday announced that it is withdrawing its
endorsement of Congressman Eric Swalwell in the race for Governor of California, effective immediately.
“Allegations of sexual assault must be treated with the utmost seriousness, and they demand clear moral leadership, not equivocation or delay,” said Dr. René Bravo, President of CMA. “As physicians, we are guided by a duty to protect and care for others, and that responsibility extends beyond our profession into the leaders we choose to support. We cannot, in good conscience, continue to support a candidate facing such deeply troubling allegations.”
