It's Time to Fill the Boot! 

May 22, 2026 – CAL FIRE officials announce that the firefighters of CAL FIRE's Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit, Mariposa County Fire Department, Merced County Fire, Madera County Fire, and Atwater City Fire Department are lacing up and hitting the streets this weekend on Saturday, May 23 from 7:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. for the MDA Fill the Boot campaign — and we need YOUR help!

For over 70 years, firefighters across the country have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) to raise critical funds for kids and adults living with neuromuscular diseases.

Every dollar you drop in the boot goes directly toward:

• Life-changing research & FDA-approved therapies
• MDA Care Centers providing essential services
• Community programs, education & advocacy for MDA families

When you see our crews out in the community — stop, roll down your window, and give what you can. No amount is too small. Together, we can make a BIG impact right here in Madera, Mariposa, and Merced Counties.
