May 24, 2026 – Placer County Sheriff's Office officials report that at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, the driver of a Subaru crashed through the front doors of the CVS in North Auburn off Highway 49 in what appears to be an attempted burglary. Deputies immediately responded and determined no one was inside the building.

After reviewing surveillance video, investigators saw the driver run from the store and get into a second vehicle, which then left the area. At this time, it does not appear anything was stolen. Investigators have also determined the vehicle used to crash into the store was stolen out of Sacramento.

Detectives are actively investigating the incident.
