June 6, 2026 – KERMAN, CA – after a months-long investigation, Detectives with the Kerman Police
Department arrested Anthony Hernandez, 28, of Kerman, on charges related to the sexual assault of a child.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Hernandez allegedly used social media platforms to communicate with the juvenile female victim.
Investigators also discovered that Hernandez had been posing as a teenager online to communicate with other children. Based on information obtained during the investigation, detectives believe there may be additional victims within the community who have not yet reported their experiences to law enforcement.
The Kerman Police Department encourages parents and guardians to remain vigilant regarding their children's online activity. Parents should monitor internet usage and be aware of the social media platforms and applications their children use and maintain open communication about online safety. Online predators often misrepresent their identity to gain the trust of children and exploit them. Teaching children to be cautious when interacting with individuals online can help protect them from becoming victims.
Anyone with information related to this investigation, or who believes they may have been a victim, is encouraged to contact Detective Ruiz at (559) 550-1459 or Detective Barrera at (559) 550-0744.
The Kerman Police Department remains committed to protecting children and thoroughly investigating crimes against our most vulnerable community members.
