Deputies Arrest Son Who Stabbed Father to Death
June 10, 2026 – Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials report that deputies have booked 21-year-old Freeman
Hunter III of Fresno into the Fresno County Jail on a charge of murder. His bail is set at $1 million.
Shortly before midnight on Saturday, June 6th, sheriff’s dispatchers received a call of a stabbing taking place. Deputies and firefighters responded to a home located near the intersection of Shaw and Grantland Avenues in Fresno. Deputies contacted the suspect, Freeman Hunter III, and immediately took him into custody. Meanwhile, other deputies and firefighters located the injured victim and performed CPR on him. However, he ultimately died at the scene. He has been identified as 79-year-old Freeman Hunter Jr., the father of the suspect.
The motive for this homicide has not yet been established. This remains an ongoing investigation.
