Argentina President Javier Milei and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
June 24, 2026 - Washington, D.C. — On Tuesday, Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, released a new 105 page report detailing how the Trump Administration has broken its “Make America Healthy Again” promises and is instead making American children and families more vulnerable to disease, illness, and preventable death.
“The Trump Administration has gutted scientific medical research, taken away vaccines, and made our families sicker. This Administration is dismantling safeguards that have protected people for decades and the American people are paying the price. Oversight Democrats will fight to hold this Administration accountable before more families get hurt,” said Ranking Member Robert Garcia.
The report draws on interviews with more than 80 sources, including current and former senior public health officials, scientists, researchers, health care providers, and families directly impacted by the Administration’s actions, and documents more than 100 case studies of the Administration’s actions undermining Americans’ health.
Key findings from the report:
-
The Trump Administration has undermined the research that fights chronic and deadly diseases while simultaneously pursuing policies that increase Americans’ risk of developing these diseases.
-
The Trump Administration is dismantling public health programs that protect Americans from major health threats, including some of the very diseases Secretary Kennedy has promised to fight.
-
The Trump Administration has restricted, delayed, and complicated access to vaccines for millions of Americans, including by politicizing a key vaccine advisory committee.
Key excerpt from the report:
“From imposing the effects of an anti-vaccine agenda on all Americans, to canceling scientific research and needlessly delaying medicines and treatments, to dismantling the programs that keep Americans safe in their daily lives, to increasing food insecurity and kicking millions of Americans off their health insurance, the Trump Administration is making Americans less healthy and less safe. Meanwhile, corporate polluters and large agribusiness food corporations will be allowed to continue policies proven to harm public health on a large scale. The evidence is clear: the Trump Administration is not making Americans healthier—it is abandoning Americans to disease.”
