Missing / Runaway Juvenile 

July 12, 2026 – Plumas County Sheriff's Office officials report that they are asking for the public's assistance in locating Penelope "Penny" Chavez, a 15-year-old runaway.

Penelope was last seen at her residence in Chester on the evening of Thursday, July 9, 2026. Information developed during the investigation indicates she may currently be in the Susanville area, possibly near Ash Street and Hall Street.

Penelope is believed to have voluntarily left home; however, due to her age, the Sheriff's Office is actively working to locate her to ensure her safety and well-being.

If you have seen Penelope or have any information regarding her whereabouts, please contact the Plumas County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center immediately at (530) 283-6300. If you see her and believe she is in immediate danger, call 911.
