July 31, 2026 - Washington, D.C. — On Thursday, Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, released the following statement after Todd Blanche’s confirmation vote to be Attorney General was postponed by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“Republicans were forced to postpone Todd Blanche’s confirmation vote because they knew he was too corrupt and untrustworthy to get enough votes. Blanche went from being Trump’s personal lawyer to running the Epstein files cover-up and orchestrating billion-dollar slush funds. He is not qualified to be the top law enforcement officer in this country. We will not stop fighting until Donald Trump withdraws his nomination, ” said Ranking Member Robert Garcia.

In July 2026, Ranking Member Garcia and Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dick Durbin urged the Senate to reject Blanche’s nomination ahead of his confirmation vote for his failed handling of the Epstein files and his personal involvement in moving Ghislaine Maxwell to a minimum-security prison.
