August 3, 2026 - SACRAMENTO — The League of California Cities Executive Director and CEO Carolyn Coleman, California State Association of Counties CEO Graham Knaus, Chair of the California Big City Mayors Coalition and City of Riverside Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson, and Director of California State Policy at the Corporation for Supportive Housing Sharon Rapport on behalf of the Bring California Home Coalition issued the following statement on the state budget:

“Our organizations applaud the inclusion of $900 million for the Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention (HHAP) program in the 2026-27 State Budget. Investments in HHAP have helped communities across California make meaningful progress in preventing and reducing homelessness.

HHAP has proven that when the state invests in local communities, local communities deliver results. This funding will help cities, counties, and Continuums of Care expand housing, connect more Californians to services, and keep that progress moving forward.

In the face of fiscal uncertainty and growing pressure on local communities, this year’s investment is critical. We look forward to building on this progress with the Legislature and the next Governor to make HHAP a long-term, sustainable funding source that helps local agencies plan, sustain programs, and deliver results.

We thank Governor Newsom and the Legislature for recognizing the importance of this program, and we look forward to continuing to partner with the state to address homelessness.”
