August 4, 2026 – John C. Fremont Healthcare District is continuing its investment in technology and quality improvement with the upcoming launch of new Healow self-service check-in options at its clinics.

Beginning later this month, patients will have two convenient ways to complete the check-in process. Patients may check in from their own cell phone using a secure link sent by text message, or they may use a secure iPad kiosk provided at the clinic. Through either option, patients can verify demographic information, update insurance details, sign electronic consent forms, and complete health questionnaires.

Staff members will remain available to assist patients who need help, and a traditional check-in option will continue to be available.

The new system is designed to make registration faster and easier while reducing paperwork and improving the accuracy of information entered into each patient’s health record. The project also aims to streamline front-office workflows, reduce registration related delays, and allow clinic staff to spend more time assisting patients with their individual needs.

“This is one of several quality improvement projects underway across John C. Fremont Healthcare District to make care more efficient, accessible, and patient-centered,” said Kati Baca, BSN, RN, District Quality RN and project lead. “The goal is not simply to introduce new technology, but to use technology thoughtfully to reduce unnecessary paperwork, shorten the registration process, improve accuracy, and create a better overall experience for both our patients and our staff.”

The self-service check-in system is part of John C. Fremont Healthcare District’s broader commitment to modernizing local healthcare. This project is supported through a Central California Alliance for Health quality improvement initiative focused on enhancing access, streamlining care, and improving patient centered services throughout the community.

The District has also hired additional office personnel and implemented a new phone system staffed by experienced team members Monday through Friday during clinic hours. These staff members help coordinate referrals, assist patients with scheduling needs, and route medical or prescription questions to the appropriate care team.

“I am incredibly proud of Kati Baca and the entire team for their leadership, collaboration, and thoughtful work on this project,” said Stacey Kuzak, CEO of John C. Fremont Healthcare District. “This new check-in system reflects our continued commitment to improving patient experiences”

The District is strengthening its partnerships with Central California Alliance for Health, the region’s managed Medi-Cal health plan, and other regional healthcare providers. These partnerships are important to improving access, coordination, and health outcomes in rural communities.

New patients can establish care by registering online at www.jcf-hospital.com or by calling Fremont Family Physicians at 209-966-0850.
