Drowning at Fox Grove Fishing Access 

August 5, 2026 – Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 6:59 p.m., the Stanislaus Regional 911 Center received a report of a possible drowning at Fox Grove Fishing Access.

According to initial reports, 20-year-old Oscar Arreola Arguello of Hughson was with friends when he entered the water and began struggling.

Stanislaus County Sheriff's deputies, fire personnel, emergency medical personnel, and the Sheriff's Office Air Unit responded to the scene. A Special Vehicle Operations Unit river boat was launched to assist with search efforts.

As daylight faded, the Sheriff's Air Unit was no longer able to safely continue aerial operations. At approximately 8:30 p.m., search teams located the victim in the water. Despite the extensive response, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office extends its deepest condolences to the victim's family and friends during this difficult time.
