Online Predator Arrested
August 7, 2026 – San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office officials report that detectives have arrested 34-year-old
Matthew Martin in connection with an investigation involving the sexual exploitation of a child.
Investigators learned Martin allegedly met a 12-year-old victim through a social media application and engaged in repeated communications containing sexually explicit content. Detectives determined he traveled from San Francisco on multiple occasions to meet with the victim.
With assistance from the San Francisco Police Department, detectives located and arrested Martin on July 30, 2026. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on multiple felony charges related to child sexual abuse and exploitation.
This case serves as an important reminder for parents and guardians to monitor their children’s online activity and discuss the dangers of communicating with strangers on social media.
