Update: Fatal E-Bike Collision 

August 10, 2026 – Modesto Police Department officials report that the Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving an SUV and an electric bicycle that occurred Saturday night near Tully Road and Roseburg Avenue.

Preliminary information indicates the e-bike rider was traveling eastbound on Roseburg Avenue within the traffic lane and entered the intersection against a red light, colliding with an SUV traveling northbound on Tully Road. These preliminary findings are supported by witness statements and physical evidence collected at the scene. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Emergency medical personnel responded; however, the e-bike rider was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the rider is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
